Of muses and remembering

My writing self has been M.I.A. of late. I don’t want to say a writing block. It has been more like a pause. Like something has been waiting and needing to brew. I’m feeling more loose now and things and ideas are starting to flow. Ideas are more cohesive. It’s been interesting to observe needing

Just B Yoga spotlighted in local podcast, 2nd Brain Collective

I love supporting local ventures and local people and collective efforts. So when my friend Paul Schmidt tapped me on the shoulder to be a guest on the 2nd Brain Collective podcast I didn’t blink an eye. And then I was like, wait, what am I going to talk about? Funny. We ended up talking

There is no such thing as same old same old Each sunrise is new Each cloud is new Each flower is new Each bird chirping is new Each breath is new We know this but we don’t KNOW this. We find ourselves grumbling about rolling out of bed on a Monday (or a Tuesday as

There is no winning in yoga

I’m a competitive person. Yes I’m a yogini. I teach yoga. I own a studio. I teach people to teach yoga. And yet I’m competitive and struggle against needing to win ALL THE TIME! Since I was a little girl I’ve had a drive to win. My mother even toppled a game board  (Trouble) shouting

Please donate to a Just B Yoga student after a house fire

Our friend and fellow yoga student, Julie Cotton-Fire Reed, lost her home in a fire yesterday. It’s all gone. Apparently she smelled the smoke overnight before the alarms went off and was able to get her family and even the cats out before it all burned down. We are relieved to know they are safe

The Mat and the Meds, by Kim Lewis

(August 18th , 2015) I’m taking a big step. Coming off medication prescribed for bipolar disorder after 25 years of taking anti-depressants, anti-anxiety medication, and mood stabilizers. Really, I’m taking another step in series of small steps. This is not a reckless, unplanned leap from a complicated mix of drugs to zero drugs. And I’m
