Cats United for Tiki Cat 2009

Cats the world over protest and riot in reaction to news there will be no more Tiki Cat cat food. Write your pet store owner, legislator, astronaut. Join the Facebook fan page. If you're not a part of the solution you ARE the problem.

News alert! Tiki Cat cat food no longer available.

I went to Preuss Pets, my regular Tiki dealer for at least two years, to find one lonely can.

I was told by Rick Preuss that the food is hung up with customs! See the food comes from Thailand. The fish parts or something, he said, are the problem! Shrimp, tuna, crab, sardines! What?

I came home and duly did a Google tactical search and couldn’t find any reference to a Tiki holdup with U.S. Customs. I don’t get it. If it’s about fish products coming from Thailand look at my sardines that I eat. They’re from Thailand.

Bogus excuse! Coverup. Conspiracy! We want the truth! And more importantly. WE WANT TIKI! (this is directly translated from my cats)

I came home with one crappy (my cats’ translation) can of sardine cat food. So, I’m turning to the power of the Internet and cat owners to galvanize a force. FREE THE TIKI! Give us free!

Look at the face of this 13-year-old who has who knows how many days left? She needs her Ahi Tuna. She’s feenin.’

Then there’s Mustafa, 2. How can you deny him?

  1. I consider Belinda a dear friend and let me tell you, this lady is outraged regarding the Tiki cat fiasco. Let me tell you. I currently work at my family’s business Preuss Pets. I was in the midst of a special order for a customer when I heard “the last can!” It was as if someone had taken a knife to the side. “My cats will not allow me to come home!” She was very excited! We searched the backroom for any dusty cans that may have sadly been missed. No cans. Nothing. Nada. Tiki Cat food was gone. In the words of Rick Preuss, Tiki Cat food was gone (super slow motion) F-O-O-O-R-E-V-E-R!! I commend Belinda’s recent blog. She is a driven lady who wants answers! She is a passionate mother of 2 beautiful fuzzy children. Look at the picture above, it says it all. Mustafa’s eyes are watering with admiration for his beloved owner who is offering him his delicious can of Tiki Cat. May we find answers!! May the answers be found soon so that Mustafa’s eyes can once again water with the excitement of Thailand sardines. In the meantime, I hope to offer some comfort to Belinda. I will finish with this statement. Belinda, may you sleep softly knowing that it was YOU who took home the LAST can. Please send my sardine love to Mustafa. If he begins having withdrawal symptoms I recommend the book I gave you, Fur Shui.

  2. Yep. I had a serious SayItAin’tSo moment in Preuss. My kids have gotten over the heartbreak, although I’m going to keep the campaign going. Keep hope alive!
